Reclaiming the High Priestess
She beckons to me softly at first as we start our dance. I can feel her moving, twirling and spiralling through my body. She’s graceful for sure. Fierce, no doubt about it. She carries with her the scent of woods and the sound of a crackling fire. I feel into her as we start dancing together, slowly at first, flirting, meeting each other again. As our movements speed up and get more intense she starts telling me a story, revealing images long forgotten. She shows me how we danced many times before, in other lifetimes, dimensions, universes. Naked under the moonlight, surrounded by sisters, we danced, prayed and chanted around the fire, sending our magic to all corners of the Universe.
She is the High Priestess. I know who she is as soon as I feel her. I instantly recognise her as a part of me I have long forgotten. She is wild – a thing of the woods never to be tamed. She is wise – her wisdom reaching to the very depths of mother Gaia herself. She is powerful – a power that does not ask for permission to do what she needs to do.
As we dance she starts telling me of the lifetimes when we sang, danced and worshipped the Divine Mother. The more she reveals the more I feel like I am finally coming home, reclaiming the part of me that felt missing for a long time. My mind puts up resistance, old fear coming up to the surface again – “Can I really have all this?” But she is unrelenting. “Take it”, she says. “It’s yours. Own it. Inhabit it. This is who you are.” And I do, shyly at first, but growing in conviction as her power spreads through my body. I let her take charge and surrender my fear to her. I allow the feeling of freedom to spread through my body. It feels good.
The High Priestess is a very mystical character. She possesses deep wisdom, intuition and power. She sits at the gate before the great Mystery, between darkness and light, between the known and the unknown. As women we have a connection to her as she governs the Moon, which in turn governs our cycles. She comes to us sometimes as an intuitive hunch or a firm voice that warns us about a situation or a person. We connect to her through prayer, meditation, dance and time in nature.
The High Priestess reminds us of the gifts we possess but have forgotten – intuition, manifestation and the gift of healing. She speaks to us of lifetimes when she was known as a witch, shaman, priestess, medicine woman, healer, mystic. Her power often came at a high price, in many cases costing us our life.
But here we are now, coming back full circle. She is urging us to remember who we are and to reclaim our gifts. They are so very needed right now to help the world wake up and heal. “The times of witch hunts are over. We must stand strong now and reclaim what is rightfully ours. It’s time for the Priestesses to remember who they are and come together.” – she says.
The more I dance with the High Priestess the more she reveals to me. The more I remember who I am the more I notice this movement happening around the world of women coming together, reclaiming their power, opening up their gifts of insight and alchemy. It is a beautiful movement, and it is being guided by the Divine Mother herself. We are the ones who were sent here to restore our planet to health and harmony.
We are the ones we have been waiting for.
